Movie Reviews 01/28/07

 The Hitcher - The Comedy

This movie is hilarious, a horror by genre but comedy for sure!  There are some parts that make you jump but really there’s absolutely no point to this damn film.  Disguised with some great shots the film lacks a worthwhile story, but yet is still pretty entertaining if not taken seriously.  Plus they actually rip a person in two with a semi! I wasn’t expecting it, but it was quite interesting.

Smokin’ Aces - The Man’s Flick

This had me confused from the get go and even after it ended and you were let in on everything I really wasn’t sure why everything was done the way it was done in the film, not to say it was bad, just a little confusing….kind of like my review…  Anyway besides the confusion this was a really good film, i think.  There were lots of celebs’ names boostin the promotion of this, but I think for the most part they all did a pretty good job because they were out of their normal characters.  Plus what flick with anarchist/nazi/hicks hitmen wouldn’t be good? I mean come on!

Catch and Release - The Chick Flick

I’m not sure quite how I feel about this film, yes it’s a chick flick, but it wasn’t the exact stereotypical thing you usually see, or maybe it was but in a different way? Does that make sense? Probably not, I’m sure…. Anyway Kevin Smith and Juliette Lewis are hilarious in this. I’d see it just for them. However Timothy Olyphant must have been just caught at all the wrong times because that man made some of the dumbest reaction faces I have ever seen, quite comical though.  It was alright, weird, she discovers her fiance wasn’t the man he claimed to be and then falls in love with his best friend. Eh… Also there was some of the weirdest editing in this in spots….very bad….

I watched about an hour of Pan’s Labyrinth too, which seemed promising in parts, but I wasn’t really digging the whole war aspect of the film. The fantasy parts were great though. Had the whole film been like that I wouldn’t have left to sneak into another film.
